Johnny Foreigner - Johnny Foreigner Vs. Everything
Basically, I love this band with all my heart, since I first heard the single Our Bipolar Friends back in my first year of uni, they have always flawed me with everything they do. This week they released their third album, which is their most eclectic and ambitious set to date. There’s still plenty of their trademark indie punk sound with twiddly guitars and intertwining boy/girl vocals, infact, with more of a focus on harmonies and the vocal interplay between Alexei and Kelly, JoFo sound as fearless as ever! What set’s this album apart from previous JoFo release is the fact there is alot of a diversity on this album, with a nod towards a more mellower sound as well incorperating electronica programming, drum’nbass-esque beats, styalphones solo’s, brass, spoken word sound collages and a lovely little piano ballad too! I’ll wrap this up with a quote from the super Drowned In Sound website: “Johnny Foreigner have always had a gift for inclusion; they write songs about their friends, their enemies, the beauties and horrors of everyday life, and somehow they make you feel like you’re all part of it.”
